Future Proof Your GPS Tracking Device

PSA Announcement – Future proof your GPS tracking devices

Good day! You may have missed this in your busy caregiving world, but 3G cellular service is being phased out by the major carriers, and no new 3G activations are being done. Why is that important to you? Because most of the GPS tracking devices, from PERS to wearables work on cellular networks, and most are 3G based.

3G coverage has been around for years and works great near major highways. But technology continues to improve. The reason 3G is being phased out is because of the advent of 5G cellular service. There are only so many cellular bands a body can bear!

4G brings you more great service in your neighborhood, and higher speeds. Our GPS tracking wearable began shipping last year and we support 4G / LTE. It’s very important to our wearable as we support 2-way voice communications between a caregiver and their care recipient. The beauty of  our 2-way voice communications is that the care recipient doesn’t have to push any buttons to answer it. This is especially important for our care recipients who have memory issues – we know button pushing on a small watch face is not possible for many. It’s much more fun for them to hear their caregivers voice when they are lost or off track, especially over their “Dick Tracy” watch. Even better, our watch is supported on the 5G network.

Many of our fine customers have used this feature when they have seen their care recipients wander or go off their normal course. Sometimes, a simple direction or suggestion will resolve the situation. We’ve even had a Good Samaritan near a wanderer join in the conversation and help the caregiver get to their loved one safely.

So, when you are evaluating PERS devices, GPS tracking watches and wearables, the first question you should ask is……is this 4G / LTE? You and your loved ones will rest easier if it is!
