Over 5 million persons are living with Alzheimer’s and dementia in the US alone. Each and every one will have a unique journey and Theora Care solutions help caregivers along every step of the way.

Theora Care remote monitoring and caregiving tracking systems employ innovative technologies to provide caregivers with situational awareness information to monitor, adjust and intervene when necessary to provide better care. Theora Care provides products for the entire caregiving journey to give caregivers peace of mind by knowing how their loved one is doing, while providing more active independence for their loved ones to age in place with reassurance.

In the early stage

In the early stage of Alzheimer’s and dementia care, it is important to encourage loved ones to be active. However, wearing an Alzheimer’s bracelet, lanyard, or other clinical-looking tracking devices is a stigmatizing and unpopular option. Theora Connect™ is a purpose-built smartwatch that incorporates auto-answering calls with listed contacts, a personal GPS tracking device, an SOS button linked directly to the caregiver, and new Smart Fall Detection into an attractive wearable that looks like a familiar watch. Theora Connect, paired with the Theora Link Pro™ Smartphone App for the caregivers to view current activity, location, and historical wellness data. Theora Link Pro alerts caregivers when a fall happens and provides instant communications to the loved one.  Situational awareness information helps caregivers detect changes in their loved one’s activity levels or behavior patterns that may require attention.

Emergency Alzheimer’s Alert System For Seniors

Theora Care can help in this stage by using our Theora Connect wearable. Unlike an emergency Alzheimer’s alert system for seniors and basic GPS tracker watches, Theora Connect goes beyond simple location tracking and provides key information about not only where the loved one is, if they’ve fallen, how active they are – but also always on communication. We call this situational awareness – location and activity information in context so that you can understand and act when needed. The caregiver accesses this information using the Theora Link Pro app on their personal smartphone. This information lets caregivers understand a baseline of usual, expected behavior. Changes in a loved one’s routine can signal that something may be wrong so gives caregivers an opportunity to proactively intervene before a larger issue develops.

“While shopping, one of my greatest fears came true and I became separated from my husband, Bob. I did not realize that he had left the store and was wandering outside in the parking lot. Fortunately, I was able to use the Quick Connect feature to get the attention of a Good Samaritan who was near Bob. The Good Samaritan heard me trying to talk to Bob and was able to help bring him safely back into the store and by my side…where he’s been for over 50 years!”

Theora Sense - Elderly Emergency Alert System

In the middle stage

In the middle stage, Theora Care provides residential sensing devices in addition to our person tracker wearable devices. Theora Sense™ for home, assisted living and memory care is a wall mounted sensor solution that supplies situational awareness information that a loved one may not be able to communicate directly.

For example, increased trips to the bathroom at night put loved ones at increased risk of falls and could be indicative of a urinary tract infection(UTI). Using Theora Sense, caregivers can be notified of these bathroom trips, and our application would present cumulative data around changes in sleeping and bathroom behavior to decide if it’s a significant change from normal. Using our proactive sensor alert system, a care partner could then consult with medical professionals and address a change in behavior before it becomes an issue or, worse, an upsetting and costly emergency room visit.

In the late stage

In the late-stage of Alzheimer’s or dementia, Theora Care can be another set of eyes, performing as a virtual home alert system to assist caregivers in the care of their loved one. Theora Sense can monitor and measure activity, or lack of activity, and provide caregiving teams with easily understood data about how a loved one is doing, and if there are signs of progression of the disease. While containing the features of many personal emergency response systems, Theora Care solutions provide additional information and communication to take caregiving to a new level. Communication even includes auto-answering audio if your loved one cannot or does not answer, they can still hear your reassuring voice. With Theora Care solutions, behavioral changes can be seen more quickly, as the wellness data captured provides information caregivers need to keep alerted to important changes that may need addressing.

Theora Connect For Parkinson's Patients

A better alternative to Alzheimer’s bracelets

Theora Care solutions was started when family caregivers with many years’ experience keeping people and devices connected using innovative technology went looking for caregiving technology solutions and couldn’t find what was required. While there are GPS trackers for Alzheimer’s or PERS devices available, it was a partial solution and based on older technology. Many active older adults require caregiving oversight, but do not want to wear a stigmatizing Alzheimer’s bracelet or PERS lanyard. A solution was needed that would give busy caregivers notifications via their smartphone about a care recipient’s location, activity, falls, status and condition – we call this situational awareness. In addition, by providing useful event and historical tracking information caregivers could establish a routine baseline of activity for their care recipients, so they could better understand any unusual activity or behavioral patterns that might require intervention, to catch an illness early or even prevent a costly ER visit or hospital stay. In 2015, we launched Theora Care with the first condition-specific yet stylish wearable and its accompanying smartphone app delivering situational awareness – giving caregivers the information they need, without the unused bells and whistles (and hefty price tag) of some smartwatches and other tracking devices. Instead, we put in functionality caregivers do need to check their care recipients and monitor remotely like AI / Neural Networking for smart fall detection, preventative analytics, direct two-way communication with an integrated cellular connection. Theora Care solutions support more peace of mind for busy caregivers and more independence with confidence for care recipients to stay active and live in their own homes longer.
